Людина сприймає об’єкт таким, яким він є, не прагне поліпшити або змінити його. Вона сприймає об’єкт як частину світу, відчуває свою близькість, причетність до нього. Об’єкт сприймається людиною як продовження, розширення її власного «Я». Радість змушує людину з (...) особливою гостротою відчути свою єдність зі світом. У статті представлений філософський аналіз гуманістичних ідей психоаналізу Е.Фромма. З огляду на історичну ретроспективу формування їх основ для того, щоб в подальшому сформувати цілісну картину теорії психоаналізу, залучаючи не тільки свої знання з іудаїзму та дзен-буддизму, а й використовуючи теоретичні досягнення З.Фройда, К.Маркса, Г.Когена. Основною метою статті виступає розгляд еволюції формування філософських ідей психоаналізу. Е.Фромма як один з основоположникiв неофройдизму, який був добре знaйомий з дзен-буддизмом, додaвши до нього свої нaпрaцювaння в клaсичному психоaнaлiзi З.Фройдa, що допомогло сформувaти теорiю «гумaнiстичного психоaнaлiзу». (...) Вiдповiдно до цього розуміння психоaнaлiзу для Е.Фромма – це хaрaктерне вирaження духовної кризи зaхiдної людини i спробa знaйти способи її вирiшення. Recent data indicate that under a specific posthypnotic suggestion to circumvent reading, highly suggestible subjects successfully eliminated the Stroop interference effect. The present study examined whether an optical explanation could account for this finding. Using cyclopentolate hydrochloride eye drops to pharmacologically prevent visual accommodation in all subjects, behavioral Stroop data were collected from six highly hypnotizables and six less suggestibles using an optical setup that guaranteed either sharply focused or blurred vision. The highly suggestibles performed the Stroop task when naturally (...) vigilant, under posthypnotic suggestion not to read, and while visually blurred; the less suggestibles ran naturally vigilant, while looking away, and while visually blurred. Although visual accommodation was precluded for all subjects, posthypnotic suggestion effectively eliminated Stroop interference and was comparable to looking away in controls. These data strengthen the view that Stroop interference is neither robust nor inevitable and support the hypothesis that posthypnotic suggestion may exert a top-down influence on neural processing. This essay brings psychoanalytic theory on trauma together with film and television criticism on rape narrative in an analysis of Michael Coel’s 2020 series I May Destroy You. Beyond the limited carceral framework of the police procedural, which dislocates the act of violence from the survivor’s history and context, Coel’s polyvalent, looping narrative metabolizes rape television’s forms and genres in order to stage and restage both trauma and genre again and anew. Contesting common conceptions of vulnerability and susceptibility that prefigure (...) a violent breach of autonomy, Coel’s series and her interviews about it invite an ethics of looking that embraces a curiosity in the unknowable and untreatable kernel of subjective experience and defies and resists a policing of the survivor’s thoughts and emotions. By emphasizing and exploring what psychoanalysis calls the “afterwardness” of trauma, Coel foregrounds her main character’s subjectivity prior to her victimization, widens the sphere of consequence beyond the victim and criminal justice system to the survivor’s larger community, and entreats that community to preserve a space for her to look and look again at everything, without judgment. Two Bayesian approaches to choosing between statistical models are contrasted. One of these is an approach which Bayesian statisticians regularly use for motivating the use of AIC, BIC, and other similar model selection criteria, and the other one is a new approach which has recently been proposed by Bandyopadhayay, Boik, and Basu. The latter approach is criticized, and the basic ideas of the former approach are presented in a way that makes them accessible to a philosophical audience. The study of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) function has shown to provide useful indicators for risk stratification and early detection on a variety of cardiovascular pathologies. However, data gathered during different tests of the ANS are difficult to analyse, mainly due to the complex mechanisms involved in the autonomic regulation of the cardiovascular system (CVS). Although model-based analysis of ANS data has been already proposed as a way to cope with this complexity, only a few models coupling the main (...) elements involved have been presented in the literature. In this paper, a new model of the CVS, representing the ventricles, the circulatory system and the regulation of the CVS activity by the ANS, is presented. The models of the vascular system and the ventricular activity have been developed using the Bond Graph formalism, as it proposes a unified representation for all energetic domains, facilitating the integration of mechanic and hydraulic phenomena. In order to take into account the electro-mechanical behaviour of both ventricles, an electrophysiologic model of the cardiac action potential, represented by a set of ordinary differential equations, has been integrated. The short-term ANS regulation of heart rate, cardiac contractility and peripheral vasoconstriction is represented by means of continuous transfer functions. These models, represented in different continuous formalisms, are coupled by using a multi-formalism simulation library. Results are presented for two different autonomic tests, namely the Tilt Test and the Valsalva Manoeuvre, by comparing real and simulated signals. (shrink)

The philosophical and theological principles of the inscription of God’s name are being discussed in this article. The comprehension of the essence of the phenomenon is based on studying of Russian philosophy of the name of the Silver Age, the ideas of which are illustrated with those works of Christian Fine Art where the inscription of God’s name or sacred words play one of the key roles filling cultural artefact with sacred sense. Name and word within the framework of icon (...) representation are understood ontologically because with the help of them specific spiritual, abstract ‘mechanism‘ of icon carries out its work. In other words this ‘mechanism‘ means dialectical co-presence of Pre-image and image or visible and invisible. The inscription of God’s name and word shows one of the essential, doctrinal concepts of Christian tradition - God’s appearance to the world. Besides, specific ‘history of a letter‘ in icon is being worked out in the article on the basis of theological and philosophical comprehension of the phenomenon of the name and word. It presents itself a special methodology of a view on the tradition of Christian Art with the purpose of ‘jumping‘ at the extent of verbal filling of visual representation. Works of Christian Art from the first centuries of its existence to the masterpieces of Russian icon-painting of the 17th century are visual material when studying ‘the history of painting‘. The paper examines representative cases of ``dishonest'' voting. In all but one case the claim that ``strategic voting'' is ``dishonest'' is refuted. In all cases the effects of ``misrepresentation'' need never harm any majority. Indeed majorities may benefit from ``strategy'' (in non-cycle cases too). In fact democracy demands ``strategy''. Although the universal value of the choice set is disputed even in the one recalcitrant case, the result is, after all, an element in the ``honest'' choice set.
